History of Go Outdoors
Go Outdoors has been in business for over 40 years. Based in Sheffield with stores across the country, the chain is today the UK's biggest retailing outdoors and campaign equipment.
Go Outdoors started life in 1969 known as the 'Camping and Caravanning Centre.' Its first shop was in Sheffield and it soon became known to locals simply as 'CCC.' The store became something of a focal point for the large, growing outdoor community of Yorkshire and business was a success.
Initially, the focus was heavily on manufacturing trailer tents and various camping accessories and furniture.
In the 1970s, the company's Bramhall Lane site was hit with a fire and it was forced to relocate to larger premises on Sheffield's Hill Street. Go Outdoors remains at the Hill Street site today.
In the 1980s, CCC switched its focus from manufacturing to retail, enabling it to sell a combination of camping furniture alongside barbecues, gas, charcoal and other similar things. This gave the business a proposition that was incredibly unique at the time.
It was in the 1990s that the shop really started to change shape and become more like the Go Outdoors we know today. It started to stock clothing from leading brands and an even wider range of equipment. It was around this time that the then store manager led a buyout of CCC.
In the early 2000s, the new owner opened three other stores and rebranded to Go Outdoors. The first new Go Outdoors shop opened its doors in Coventry in 2004. Success in Coventry resulted in even more departments opening - fishing, cycling and climbing were all added to the roster of products sold.
As time went on, Go Outdoors opened more and more stores and today prides itself on a team of outdoor enthusiasts in each shop across the UK and selling the widest range of leading brand equipment and clothing at incredible value prices.
Go Outdoors remains the go-to shop for outdoor clothing and equipment.

Security & Reviews
Purchases on the Go Outdoors website are secured through SSL certificate.
Go Outdoors currently holds a reasonable 7.5/10 rating on Trust Pilot. The negative reviews often seem to centre on customer service, rather than on products themselves, and it should be noted that it's often those who've had a bad experience who are more likely to leave reviews than those who've made a purchase they were satisfied with.
Go Outdoors also rates at 4 out of 5 on Facebook, based on hundreds of reviews.
