History of Burton

Although the company changed its name in 1998 to Arcadia Groups upon being purchased in the mid-1990s by the retailing company of the same name, the storefronts still contain the trademark Burton logo. The Arcadia Group also owns a number of other high street clothing retailer, including Topman and Topshop.

In the mid 20th century, Montague Burton's creations began to develop their own trademark trendsetting style. Men were offered a full suit: jacket, trousers, waistcoat, shirt and even underwear. This unusual opportunity became known as The Full Monty; Montague Burton's thorough full-suit is cited as one of the possible origins of the British slang phrase ‚Ǩ≈ìThe Full Monty‚Ǩù which became synonymous with the idea of ‚Ǩ≈ìthe full works.‚Ǩù By 1952, Burton's company had become the largest multiple tailor in the world and has continued to hold popularity throughout the UK ever since. The England National Football Team were supplied by Burton for the 1966 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro Championships in 1996 and in the FIFA World Cup of 2002.

There is also express or nominated day delivery, which costs between £5.95 and £7.50.
